"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."
~Albert Einstein
I'm here!! See my LiveJournal for details on the insane move. Work starts tomorrow... I'm excited and terrified all at once. :) I'm really glad I'm not waiting to start after summer, though... I think that would be a lot harder since I'd have been away from it for so long. *sigh* Pictures of the new place, etc. to come soon. (I can't find my camera-to-computer cable, plus I don't have internet access yet. I'm at Panera. :) )
The braces are gone! No more braces! However, this "retainer" thing (essentially a fiberglass string glued to the back of my front bottom teeth) is currently annoying the hell out of me. Hopefully that will cease soon. So my teeth feel very slimy. I was told they would, but it's still wierd. Also, does it seem strange to anyone else that it would be NORMAL for my gums to bleed? It hasn't happened yet and I hope it doesn't, but they told me multiple times that it might and that was perfectly fine. I'm sorry, but bleeding gums are not fine. period.
Yeah, that's about all. I don't get why I have so much trouble making good friends that are more than just acquaintances. I have them, so you would think I could figure out how to acquire more, but for some reason, I can't. Or don't. Or something. I spent a lovely evening at my friend Corine's apartment with some other people from school and I just can't really figure out why I don't spend more time with these people. I like them, and they at least seem to like me. Maybe it's because I live farther away. Maybe it's because I have a boyfriend. Maybe it's because I don't have things to invite them to. I have no idea. I don't like it. I want to be good at making friends! grr!
live in Cincinnati, OH where I am continuing my career as a teacher of the deaf. I graduated from Central Institute for the Deaf at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. We were the first set of teachers to graduate from a medical school, I'm told. :) I love to read, craft, and play with my computer and my cats, Linus and Winston. And spend time with Tom, my husband, of course!
